SYNOPSIS
Buffy is a quick-witted heroine whose birthright
as the sole slayer of her generation is to protect
the world from the undead. Wanting nothing more
than to be a normal teenager, Buffy attends high
school and tries to act like a typical student.
However, at night she is a martial arts master,
patrolling the streets of Sunnydale, trying to keep
her underworld foes at bay. Her new hometown sits
atop a hellmouth, a mystical porthole where demons
of all sorts converge, but Buffy remains cheerful
and fierce throughout while trying to save the world
and study for a test at the same time.
Buffy's mentor (whether she likes it or not) is
Rupert Giles, the school's librarian and resident
expert on all things evil. He is also the Watcher,
a guardian who is entrusted to guide the Slayer
on her destiny. Angel is Buffy's sexy underworld
informant, who has rejected his old life as a vampire.
His burgeoning feelings for Buffy prompt him to
turn against his own kind, and in the second year
Buffy and Angel find themselves drawn dangerously
close to each other. Though Buffy's strange behavior
leads her to be ostracized by the "in"
crowd, led by the popular Cordelia, she bonds with
two fellow outsiders in school: awkwardly geeky
Xander, who is bright and funny; and shy Willow,
an intelligent wallflower with a talent for computer
hacking. Xander and Willow know Buffy's other identity,
and they find themselves actively involved with
Buffy's adventures.
